Delisal Cairshain

My Mother and Father died of a sickness when I was only four years old. My father was a beloved servant to his Cairhien Lord. So I was taken into their houshold to be a playmate to their daughter, Alexisha.

We lived on the southernmost border of Cairhien, near Morelle. Alexisha's father had grown tired of "the game" and retired to his country estates to live at peace with his wife, daughter and son, Matheis. Matheis was the heir and a friendly gentelman, as well as a rogue when it suited him. He was three years older then Alexisha and I, but he was our companion and co-conspiriter.

I was taught to read and write alongside Alexisha. We were taught all the things a women need know, even how to act properly for nobility. Alexisha did it well, but I never was too good at it. I was more fond of reading and talking to the servants and countymen. The Reader of our town took an interst in me when she came to teach us basic herbs. I often visited her to talk and learn from her. I was given much freedom as a child and grew up happy and content.

When I turned sixteen, the marriagable age, I had a small part held in my honor. Their was food and dancing. I even got to dance with Matheis, who had come home from court especially for my birthday. Six months later when Alexisha turned sixteen we all went to the capital city to celebrate in style at their estate there.

It was very exciting for me. I was given a new gown in blue to match the deep blue of my eyes. I combed my waist length dark blond hair, and let it loose. Servants weren't really allowed to pile their hair. It was a glorious night. Matheis and I danced the whole night. Unfortunatly this brought us to the attention of his parents.

The next day an Aes Sedai came and told them I had the spark and should go to the Tower. It was the perfect way to get rid of me. Alexisha didn't want me to go, but I knew it was what was best. She had a necklace made so I would always remeber her. The next day I left to go to Tar Valon.
